This week we are extremely excited to introduce our first outside Guest Curator for the year, Mustelide!
Mustelide is the singer, songwriter and producer Natallia Kunitskaya born in Belarus.
Since moving from Minsk to Berlin she has been exploring the borders between Eastern and Western Europe. Stylistically, she draws on avant-pop, experimental electronica and dance music, carefully creating a flow out of analogue synthesizers, field recordings and vocals. By transferring the sound signatures of different regions and eras along with sonically disparate material into forms both strange and familiar, Mustelide creates from them a backdrop of electro beats, synthesizer passages of synthpop music from the 80s and 90s and her vocals while playing it all live on hardware during performances.

This is what Mustelide has to say about this evening's challenge!
"In my production experience it happens sometimes that I don't know how to start a new track, when I come with a blank mind to the studio. In this case I always have a project in Ableton, where I collect a lot of small ideas in the form of loops or vocal parts, inspiring synthesizer sounds, any little sketches, that sound catchy and hooky, which can bring me to making a whole new track. That's why I decided to prepare samples for our challenge in the form of this ideas pack.
I used my favorite synthesizer Prophet 8 DSI, recorded vocal parts in Ukrainian (my dad's language), and random field recordings as some basic elements, which always inspire my work flow. Every element of this pack could be a starting point so I hope it will work that way for the participants of tonight's challenge."
So today's challenge is to use at least 2 samples from the pack to make a track of 2 minutes or less. You can change and cut them and use any effects, you can record and add any additional parts.
